Thessaloniki weather forecast

For the majority of the year Thessaloniki has an enviable Mediterranean climate. There is little rain throughout the year, with an average of 451mm, mostly falling during November and December.

Average temperatures in Thessaloniki during summer are around 23 ºC to 25 ºC, though temperatures over 30 ºC are not uncommon. Therefore, be sure to pack sunscreen and light clothing if you're planning on venturing out during the day. Rainfall during the summer is minimal and infrequent.

Due to its location, Thessaloniki sees greater temperature extremes than the majority of Greece, and as a result winters in Thessaloniki are generally colder than the rest of the country. Snowfalls are rare, but during bad winters temperatures can dip to a cold -10ºC. However, the average daily temperature from December to February is about 5 to 7 ºC-, which is still significantly colder than most other Mediterranean cities.

The spring is mild, with the average temperature in March around 9 ºC before picking up to 18 ºC in May. Conditions in autumn are much the same, though rainfall becomes heavier as you move closer to winter so pack an umbrella and expect some rainfall.
