Bei Hamam – Paradise Bathhouses (Μπέη χαμάμ – Λουτρά ο Παράδεισος)

The biggest Hamam (bathhouse) of Thessaloniki was built in 1444 by Sultan Murhat the II, the building was made from building materials taken from byzantine churches. It was a bath house for both men at women there for it has two different rooms. A third one was only for the Sultan and it was decorated with stalactites. Until 1968 Bei Hamam was used as a bathhouse with the name Paradise Bathhouse. From 1968 and until today the building is used as an exhibition area. The future plan is to become a museum of Muslim Art with findings from Thessaloniki.
