For cancellations up to 15 days before the tour start: No penalty

For cancellations from 15 up to 5 days before the tour start: 30% of tour cost

For cancellations from 5 up to 2 days before the tour start: 50% of tour cost

For cancellations less than 2 days before the tour start and in case of no-show: 100% of tour cost

Wine and Culture Tour in Northern Greece- 8 Days

Spend eight wonderful days in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece! Combine wine with culture and nature! And because this Wine tour in Northern Greece is not only about wine! Visit important archaeological sites like the museum of Vergina and learn about local customs. Fill in your batteries in the beauty of the nature in Lake Kerkini and of course learn about Greek wine! And this tour will prove that Greek wine is very interesting!


Itinerary

Day1.
The car will be waiting for you at the Airport upon your arrival. With your car you will pick up and a full itinerary. In case that you are already in Thessaloniki we will delivered your car in the place of your choice. Stay in Thessaloniki

Day2.
Visit at Domaine Gerovassiliou at Epanomi. Gerovassiliou Winery has voted in the top 100 wineries for 2006, at an ideal ecosystem for wine cultivation, the varieties of Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viongier and Syrah, Merlot, Grenach Rouge, Limnio Mavroudi, Mavrotragano give the Regional Wines of Epanomi. Furthermore, there is a very interesting enology museum, with a collection of rare corkscrews dating back to 18th century, 28 rare handmade wine-presses (18th -20th century), amphorae of Mycenaean and Byzantine time and many other old items and tools of the viticulturist. In the evening you will be back at Thessaloniki.

Day3.
Visit at Babatzimopoulos’ winery. The varieties that are cultivated here are the reds Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the whites Athiri, Assyrtiko, Malvasia, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The Regional Wine "Cotes de Vertiskos", a fruity rose with refreshing flavour is created from Xinomavro. Early in the evening you will head to Lake Kerkini.

Day4.
Rest day in Lake Kerkini! As Lake Kerkini is one of the most important European wetlands and is protected by Ramsar Convention is an ideal area to enjoy the beautiful natural environment, grab unique photos, and observe Asian water-buffalo, rare bird spices and their nests. Traditional dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.

Day5.
Today you will head to the area of Goumenissa. The vineyards of Goumenissa produce mainly Xinomavro and Negoska, and the blending of the two gives the “VQPRD Goumenissa”, which is elegant, supple and complex with emphasis on the Xinomavro fruit. Wine taste at Boutari Winery. Nearby is ancient Pella, capital of Macedonia during the period of Philip II. You could visit the nearby archaeological site and at the brand new Museum is of course before leaving for Naousa. You will reach Naousa early in the evening and settle at the hotel. Dinner with local tastes at the hotel’s restaurant!

Day6.
Wine taste in one of the eleven wineries in the area! The area of Naoussa is known for the VQPRD Naoussa' made exclusively of Xinomavro. From Xinomavro and the other red varieties cultivated in the region (mainly Merlot and Syrah) are produced the Regional Wines of Imathia, a white 'Blanc de noirs' and a fleshy and opulent red that endures through time. You must not miss the chance and visit the magnificent Macedonian tombs at Lefkadia, surrounded by vineyards and tree planes.

Day7.
Visit to a local artist and his workshop and learn about the masks that “Boules and Genitsaroi” are wearing. “Boules and Genitsaroi” is a Carnival (Apokria) custom in the area of Naousa and has its routes back to the era of Ottoman Empire. In this workshop you will not only learn about the history of this custom but you will paint and prepare your own mask and take it with you. Stay in Thessaloniki.

Day8.
Depending on your departure time maybe there will be time for a walk in the city or a coffee. You will drop off your car at the airport or in a place of your choice in Thessaloniki.

We will provide all travel arrangements (like car rental, hotel booking etc.) and all necessary information (info pack, maps, and guidelines, navigation) to have a great tour.
