Place: Edessa
There is an old tradition in the Christian Orthodox countries to fast during Sarakosti in order to follow the Christ's steps when he was in the dessert. Thus, every year 48 days before the Easter Sunday people are celebrating the starting of the fasting period with traditional music, dances and beans soup /fasolada/ φασολάδα.
At Edessa's airfield people gather in order to flight kites and to eat traditional lagana-bread, halva or nut-cake. At the Ano Loutraki village in Edessa "Pozarokoulouma" event is organized, where there is plenty of wine, fasolada, Lenten delicacies and dance events.
