Make your own marmalade / jam

Duration: 3.5 hour(s) - Location: Naoussa

Prepare you own marmalade / jam from fresh fruit!

In this activity you will learn how Greek housewives prepare their home-made marmalades / jams, using fresh fruit, without using any preservatives or artificial colours

You will select the fruits you prefer (depending on season of course), you will prepare the jam and decorate the jars to put it in.

As a gift, you will take your marmalade (3-4 1kg jars!) home with you!

Thodoris will welcome you to his workshop with a traditional "κέρασμα" (kérasma / treat), home made tsipouro or liqueur.

He will then take you to the kitchen, were he will inform you about the ingredients and how you will prepare your own jam with the old, traditional techniques, using only fresh fruits.

Then, you will prepare your own jam, with the help of the workshop's staff.

When the jam is ready, and until it cools down in a temperature that can be put in the jars, you will be taken to the tasting hall (or the garden if the weather is good), and you will have the chance to enjoy home-made Greek coffee and  "γλυκο του κουταλιού" (fruit sweet).

Next step is to prepare and decorate the jars - you can write anything you wish using the special paint provided.

Finally, you will put your marmalade in the jars - depending on the season and the fruites you have selected it will be 3 or 4 1kg jars!
